Personally, I would definitely recommend them. I came to college this year without a laptop (only a desktop) and I completely blew it! I was told a pencil and notebook was all I needed. It's hard to copy down notes by hand in college because the teachers talk faster than you can write. Now, I wish I had one because it would be nice to have my notes on the laptop to print them and take it to the library to type papers. They recommend Apple computers, though, as most of the school computers are Macs so it's easier to integrate our computers with their systems.
