My printer is wired to my desktop computer. I have a wireless router attached to it. I use my laptop in other parts of the house. In order to print a document from my laptop the two must share information. How do you make the computers share.

basicly what you are looking for sir is a print server over your network. You can find small boxes that sit over a wan or lan that will tell your computers that there is a networked printer on the network. From there it should be fairly simple to set up and run. I would recomend looking on newegg.com or tigerdirect for such products.. last time i checked they werent expensive at all.

go to printers and faxes, then go to the printer then click properties, then click share, then do some other stuff and It should work, but the desktop would alway have to be on to print

On the desktop go to Control Panel > Printers, right-click on it, and choose Sharing. You’ll give the printer a share name to identify it. Hit OK. Then go to the laptop, Control Panel > Printers > Add a Printer, choose a network printer and browse to your desktop on the network and to the printer attached to it.

Power up your desktop, laptop as well as your printer. Now on your desktop computer to which the printer is attached,(assuming that you use WINXP) click on:
Start –> Printers and Faxes
–> Right click on your printer selection
–> Select Sharing
–> Now in the box select Share this Printer
–> Type in the share name you would like to give
–>Like EL810 Canon..
—> Now click on Ok and youre started
–> Goto the laptop and open printers and faxes
–> Now select network printers
–>In the server name type in the name of the printer share along with the server name or browse for your printer share and you are all done to get started.
–>Now every time that you are on the laptop and would like a printout all you need to do is apply a print and select the shared network printer.
Think that shouldv’e solved your question.
